Dreams

So I've been having a lot of bad dreams lately. Here's a description and my interpretation of each of them:

1. The "Running a Road Race and Ending Up at Church and Losing My New Purse" Dream

Description: In this dream, I'm running a road race and decide that I'm tired and think I'm going to cheat and take a shortcut. In all fairness to my dream self, there were a lot of other people taking the shortcut too. I wasn't the only one. Anyway, the shortcut ends up taking me into a church where I'm being chased by "bad guys". That's all I really know about these men. I have no idea why they are chasing me and how I know they're bad...but they are. Anyway, I end up having my new Coach purse with me. Why am I running a road race with my purse? I end up needing to hide the purse. Either it's slowing down my running or I'm worried the bad guys are going to catch me and steal it. So basically the dream ends with me finishing the race with a really awesome time (but without my purse). I don't want to admit to anyone that I cheated...so I guess I just end up leaving my new purse at the church. Super suck...I loved that purse.

Interpretation: I think the key elements in this dream are the running, the church, and my purse. I recently ran a road race and will be doing another one in a couple weeks, which I'm sure is why I dreamed of running a race. I'm guessing I cheated in my dream because in real life I know I'm not in shape to be running a 5K. The church thing is something that often makes appearances in my dream. My best guess here is that God is mad at me for not ever going to church and is trying to make me feel guilty through my dreams. The purse...well, I got a new purse and I love it. In my dream, I ended up losing my purse because I cheated during the race. I guess I deserved it. Cheaters never win.

2. The "Blood-sucking Leach" Dream

Description: This is totally sick but a couple nights ago, I had a dream I was covered in leaches...hundreds of them. And I kept trying to pull them off, but the more I pulled off, the more there were. It was really disgusting...and painful.

Interpretation: I'm not too sure on this one. Perhaps the blood-sucking leaches symbolize my students sucking the energy from me. Or maybe they symbolize the stress I'm feeling from possibly not having a job next year. In a way the Blue Valley School District is sucking away all my positive thoughts...leaving me with a disgusting pit in my stomach pretty much all the time.

3. The "Creepy Man Taking Pictures of Me While I Sleep" Dream

Description: I'm still freaking out about this one. I had a dream that I was laying in bed and I heard a sound...like someone trying to open my front door. I look over and James is in bed with me, so I'm worried that someone is trying to break in. I continue to lay there, listening...but no one ever comes into the house. So I close my eyes to go back to sleep and I hear this clicking sound following by a flash of light. Then it happens a second time and I open my eyes to see someone at my window taking pictures of my husband and I sleeping. SUPER CREEPY!

Interpretation: I don't know if it's because the Waldo Rapist is still out there or just the fact that bad creepy people exist...but I think this dream was a reminder to me that you're never truly safe. Particularly if you're a woman, at any moment someone could violate you. This dream was very real and I'm not gonna lie...I woke up feeling very on edge. I think I'm going to have to start wearing pajamas to bed now. If someone DOES somehow make their way up to my second story window, I don't want them getting pictures of me naked!
